These are a few of my favorite things ♫
I'm not gonna write this whole page as song lyrics, but here are some things I like. I feel a little silly writing this, but I think it's nice! You should try it. Anyone can do it. :)
Being a furry
I love being a furry! It's not for everyone, but I recommend you explore it if you're curious yourself. I have a lot more thoughts on this but need to find the right words. I'll elaborate more at some point.
Youtube videos, series, and producers
-
The Onion News Network's videos have the best writing and production value I've seen in any satirical news videos anywhere. Their videos from 2007-2012 are especially good. ONN technically returned in 2024, but they're still not where they were during their peak years as far as density of jokes or upload frequency are concerned. I'm rooting for them though.
-
Youtube Poops (YTPs). If you're unfamiliar, YTP is an artistic medium of questionable legality in which people take some set of existing videos and creatively remix them to produce a new video. Here are some of my favorites:
- DaThings's "The Price is Rice" series.
-
KroboProductions's "The Fesh Pince of Blair" series.
- Note: before Krobo went by Krobo, he went by a screenname that looks like (homophobic slur)(antisemetic slur), and this name is unfortunately visible as a watermark in the first video of the series. That said, he no longer goes by that name, and the original Fesh Pince is remarkable enough that I still recommend viewing it.
- SPIGOTTAN's "ytp sexer". This one initially only looks like a recut of Toy Story, but it's actually a recut of another YTP, WaTruqDat's "Dying With Style".
- Taqdagger's "Hank's Back", among their other YTMPs.
- KRAZAM's videos, such as "Microservices", "Virtual Coachella", and "The Hustle".
- I don't usually turn to Youtube for cooking advice, but I make an exception for Internet Shaquille.
- Also in the vein of cooking, I recommend J Kenji Lopez-Alt (regardless of whether you check out his Youtube channel, I still recommend the related blog Serious Eats). I like how Kenji rarely cuts the footage so you can get a better sense of what it's like to cook in real-time from the POV of someone who knows what they're doing.
Miscellaneous
I also like...
-
These rhythm games quite a bit:
- Dance Dance Revolution
- Taiko no Tatsujin
- fun fact: I spent 6 months learning how to play a real taiko, too! I'm not taking lessons anymore because I'm no longer physically close to a place where I can take them, but I still have my bachi from when I took them.
- osu!
- Sound Voltex
With the exception of osu!, all of these games can be played not just at home, but also at arcades. I often use this database to look up arcade cabinets when I'm in a new area. Many conventions (furry and otherwise) also have a gaming room set up, and they sometimes have rhythm games set up there. If I'm at a convention that has one, I'll spend a decent amount of time there.
- How LLVM proudly features a dragon mascot.
- Experimental coffee drinks. I don't particularly care for caffeine, but I like the flavor of coffee. People have designed all sorts of wacky drinks for the World Barista Championships I'd love to try.
